Mahakit Mahaniranon
Music Composer | Improvisor | Electronic musician
Mahakit Mahaniranon is a Thai composer-performer who plays piano and modular synthesizer. His multifaceted practice combines performance, composition, improvisation, blending traditional Thai music with electroacoustic elements into an eclectic, individual musical expression. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music from the Conservatory of Music, Rangsit University, Thailand.
Various ensembles have included his compositions in their repertoire, and they continue to be performed internationally, including by Tacet(i) Ensemble, Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music Youth Orchestra, Million Wind Philharmonic, and TYOY Ensemble. He was part of the foley team for Krut: The Himmaphan Warriors, available on Netflix in Thailand. He used to be an Artist in Residence at Elektronmusikstudion (EMS), Stockholm, Sweden.
Mahakit participated in several notable events in Thailand and abroad, including a collaborative work combining Thai and Swedish cultures—a partnership with Jens Hedman in Bangkok and Fylkingen, Stockholm. His performance at BEAST FEaST 2025: Southeast/Northwest, held at the University of Birmingham, UK. Also commissioned to compose new pieces for the IntAct festival in Thailand and the Kanazawa International Experimental Music Festival in Japan, underscoring his growing influence and recognition within the contemporary music scene.
